Children on the Pediatric Oncology Unit of Kosair Children’s Hospital (7 West) show their love and appreciation for the quality of care they receive from their physicians, nurses, child life workers, music therapists, psychologists, etc. In the midst of the busy day of chemo and treatments they find creative ways to make a difficult situation “more
like normal” to quote one 8 year old patient.

Thirteen-year-old Tyler, the brainchild of the event, suggested that getting the patients, staff, and families involved could help relieve the stress that comes from long hospital stays.

Nashawnte gives tips to overcome fears of sedation

Nashawnte is a 9 year old diagnosed with pancreatitis. When her pancreatitis flairs up she has a lot of pain and has to go to the hospital. Sometimes she has to have an NJ tube inserted which requires sedation. She’s SCARED of sedation but has been working very hard to overcome her fears!
